Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Disclosure
Overview
At Intelligent Waves, we are committed to conducting our operations in an environmentally responsible manner. We have adopted a formal Environmental Policy with goals of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Our Environmental Management System is designed to meet the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard for environmental management.
As a fully virtual, independent company, our operational model has been built from the ground up to minimize environmental impact. We operate with a single physical server-room facility and a largely remote workforce, enabling us to keep our carbon footprint exceptionally low. In line with our Environmental Policy and our ISO 14001 compliance, our goal is to maintain our current low level of greenhouse gas emissions and ensure that we do not increase our emissions as our business evolves and grows.
Organizational Boundary
This disclosure covers all operations under Intelligent Waves, including:
- A single physical facility containing one server room.
- Virtual office operations conducted remotely by employees.
- Limited commuting and travel-related activities by staff.
Emission Sources
Because of our size and structure, our GHG emissions are minimal. The primary sources of emissions include:
- Purchased Electricity – Energy used to power our server room and office equipment.
- Employee Commuting – Limited to a small number of employees who commute by personal vehicle (usually fewer than 5 per day).
- Business Air Travel – The largest contributor to our overall GHG emissions, driven by frequent domestic and international company flights.

Emissions Intensity
Given our virtual-first operations and small employee base, our emissions per employee remain exceptionally low.
Current GHG Intensity: 2.25 metric tons CO₂e per full-time employee
Commitment & Future Goals
At Intelligent Waves, sustainability is built into our operating model. Our goal is not necessarily to reduce emissions further but rather to maintain our current levels and prevent any increase in GHG output as our organization grows and our operations evolve. It is our understanding that organizations of our size generally range between 300 and 7,500 total CO₂e per year. IW is at the lowest end of that range.
Our commitments include:
- Maintaining a virtual-first work structure.
- Monitoring and optimizing server room energy usage.
- Encouraging carbon-efficient travel and remote collaboration where possible.
- Annual review and disclosure of GHG emissions data.
Methodology
Our GHG emissions are calculated uses emissions factors using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard and EPA guidelines for calculating CO₂e emissions, incorporating:
- Scope 2 emissions from purchased electricity.
- Scope 3 emissions from commuting and air travel.
Continuous Monitoring
We review our energy usage and travel patterns annually to ensure we remain carbon efficient. Any material changes in operations, technology, or company size will trigger a re-evaluation of our GHG inventory and targets.
